University of Wyoming safeties coach Willie Mack Garza has resigned from his position following his arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Garza was arrested and booked into the Albany County Detention Center on Oct. 17 under charges of DUI and speeding. He was suspended indefinitely from his coaching position the following day. Garza pleaded not guilty to both charges and will appear in court on Nov. 14.

Garza’s resignation was announced Monday in a press release by head coach Craig Bohl. In the release, Bohl announced the first-year defensive coordinator and former safeties coach Jake Dickert will take up Garza’s duties.
