Michigan State forced 21 turnovers and held of a late rally from the University of Wyoming women's basketball team to defeat the Cowgirls in East Lansing, Mich., 63-51 on Sunday.
Despite turnovers from the starters, the Wyoming bench scored 33 points including a team-high 15 from Marta Gomez in 27 minutes. Taylor Rusk and Rachell Tucker, who also came off the bench, added eight points each.
The Cowgirls continued their efficiency from distance, shooting 8-for-14 from three-point range. Wyoming also out-rebounded the Spartans 32-29 with Gomez and Bailee Cotton sharing a team-high six rebounds each.
Wyoming trailed by only one point going into halftime but Michigan State created separation in the second half to seal the win.
