Larry Shyatt’s first full recruiting class at Wyoming ended its career with a bang. Led by senior forward Larry Nance Jr. and junior guard Josh Adams, the Cowboys won three games in three days to claim the program’s first Mountain West Conference tournament title and secure its first NCAA tournament bid since 2002.
UW overcame the loss of Nance and freshman forward Alan Herndon to mononucleosis for several weeks before making its surge down the stretch. The fourth-seeded Cowboys knocked off fifth-seeded Utah State, top-seeded Boise State and second-seeded San Diego State in succession, beating the Aggies and Aztecs by two points and edging the Broncos by five points in overtime.
