Five Cowboys win at host invite

The University of Wyoming wrestling team won five individual championships at the Cowboy Open on Saturday, the second straight year the Cowboys had at least five winners at the 39th annual event.

Freshman Montorie Bridges went 4-0 in the 133-pound division for his first title at Wyoming. Ben Hornickle won at 141-pounds by going undefeated in his four matches.

Senior Cole Mendenhall won at 149-pounds after his opponent in the finals, Gerald McGinty of Air Force, medically forfeited the match. Mendenhall won his first three matches by two decisions and one pinfall.

Archie Colgan won and teammate Branson Ashworth finished second at 157-pounds, and Wesley Schultz also won his weight division for the Cowboys.
