The Cowgirls fell just shy of winning the Mountain West conference and qualifying for the NCAA Tournament. They didn’t miss by much, but just enough. The season ended with a second-place finish in the conference and qualification for the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
Last year’s shortcomings have fanned the motivational flames for the Cowgirls going into the 2018 season, which began in earnest on Friday with an exhibition match against Northern Colorado.
“We’re making strides and I think being closer every year is just motivating the team,” sophomore middle blocker Jackie McBride said at UW’s media day on July 27.
