The Wyoming Cowboys cross-country team has been selected to finish tied for fifth and the Cowgirls cross-country team eighth in the Mountain West, the league's coaches determined with the preseason poll released Thursday.

The Cowboys finished sixth at last year's conference championship meet while the Cowgirls finished eighth.

Redshirt senior Jonah Henry (Laramie) and senior Ricky Faure (Rock Springs) lead the Cowboys into this season. Senior Emily Person returns as the leading runner for the Cowgirls.

Both men and women open their seasons on Aug. 31 at the Wyoming Invitational in Cheyenne.
