One of Luke Fickell’s top players at Cincinnati is following him to the University of Wisconsin.
Center Jake Renfro committed to UW on Sunday after deciding to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 1. Renfro is a New Lenox, Illinois, native who earned first-team AAC honors in 2021. He served as the anchor of an offensive line that helped Cincinnati become the first Group of Five team to play in the College Football Playoff.
Renfro missed the entire 2022 season due to knee injury suffered in training camp. He could help plug a hole the Badgers’ line will have next season after two-year starter Joe Tippmann declared for the NFL draft, and he fits the mold Tippmann left behind as a bigger, athletic center.
