Jaylan Franklin is from Brownstown, Michigan and attended Oscar A. Carlson High School. He did a little bit of everything over his high school football career, recording 1,504 passing yards, 888 rushing yards, 145 receiving yards, and 33 total touchdowns. Franklin also was a key player of defense, racking up 60 tackles, 6 sacks, and 2 defensive touchdowns as a linebacker.
He was a 3-star recruit who chose Wisconsin over other offers from programs such as Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Pittsburgh, Purdue, and Syracuse, and Vanderbilt.
Franklin was one of five prospects from Michigan who Paul Chryst signed in the 2018 class.
