Wisconsin announces hiring of Justin Wilcox as defensive coordinator

Madison — Wisconsin head football coach Paul Chryst has filled the lone vacancy on his staff.

UW announced Thursday that Justin Wilcox has been hired as defensive coordinator, pending approval by the UW Board of Regents. His selection was reported Thursday in the Journal Sentinel.

Wilcox, 39, replaces Dave Aranda, who left after the Holiday Bowl to run LSU’s defense.

“During my many conversations with numerous football people that I trusted, one name kept surfacing, Justin Wilcox,” Chryst said in a UW news release. “I am very happy that we were able to get a quality coach like Justin to join our staff.
