Madison — Sam Brodner, a 5-foot-11, 210-pound tailback from Glenbard West High School in Illinois, on Sunday gave Wisconsin an oral commitment for its 2016 class.
Brodner chose UW over Iowa and Illinois.
He rushed for 47 touchdowns and almost 2,000 yards as a senior, helped Glenbard West win the Class 7A state title and was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Illinois.
Brodner was dominant in his final two games. He rushed 50 times for 292 yards and two touchdowns in a 21-6 victory over Cary-Grove in the state semifinals and followed that by rushing 28 times for 264 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-28 victory over Libertyville in the title game.
