Madison — Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez has brushed off criticism that UW doesn't pay enough money to secure and retain quality football coaches.

No one can argue that UW officials were unwilling to open the vault to secure the new coaching staff for the men's hockey program.

UW officials on Monday released the contract information for head coach Tony Granato and associate head coaches Mark Osiecki and Don Granato.

Tony Granato is to be paid $2.75 million over the course of his five-year deal. His annual base salary is $400,000 and he is to receive $750,000 in additional compensation during the contract.
