Monday afternoon many Wisconsin Badger fans were blindsided when head basketball coach Bo Ryan announced he would retire at the end of the 2015-16 season. With that announcement, Ryan talked about how he would like associate head coach Greg Gard to take the reins after next season.
While there is a very short list as to who would be the replacement for Ryan, I can’t help but think that Gard is the right man for the job.
Gard has been with Ryan since what seems like the beginning of time. He joined Bo as an assistant for UW-Platteville in the 1993 season and has been sitting next to Ryan ever since.
