Greg Gard gets vote of confidence from Bo Ryan

Madison — Is Greg Gard adequately prepared to take over the Wisconsin men's basketball program when Bo Ryan retires after the 2015-'16 season?

Ryan, who announced Monday that his 15th season at UW will be his last as a head coach, believes Gard can handle the challenge of replacing a coach who won four Big Ten regular-season titles and led the Badgers to the Final Four in each of the last two seasons.

Gard, 44, has been with Ryan for more than two decades at three schools. He said Monday he has never set a goal of becoming a head coach by a certain age.
