San Diego — Lady Luck was smiling on the University of Wisconsin women's basketball team Friday night.
Cayla McMorris knocked down an off-balance bank shot with 3.2 seconds left to give the Badgers a 54-52 victory over Delaware in the first game of the San Diego State Thanksgiving Classic at Viejas Arena.
Delaware's Erika Brown, who drained a three-pointer to tie the game with 9 seconds remaining, missed a three-point attempt at the buzzer and the Badgers (2-2) breathed a collective sigh of relief.
For a while it didn't look like any last-second heroics would be needed.
