Madison — After a string of bitter defeats, the University of Wisconsin women's basketball team finally came up with a sweet victory.
Michala Johnson had 19 points and 13 rebounds as the Badgers stunned Purdue, 64-57, Monday night at the Kohl Center to snap a seven-game losing streak.
"It means a lot to us," Johnson said. "We've been waiting for this for a long time. Whether we win or lose, were still fighting and we're never giving up."
The Badgers (7-15, 3-9 Big Ten) took the lead over the Boilermakers (16-7, 7-5) for good at 33-30 on freshman Roichelle Marble's banked three-pointer with 33 seconds left in the second quarter.
