Badgers cross country: UW gets lost in loaded field at home invitational

The competition was fierce, and he wasn’t able to send all of the athletes to the starting line that he wanted, but coach Mick Byrne was blunt after the University of Wisconsin men’s and women’s cross country teams each finished in the middle of the pack at the Adidas Invitational on Friday at University Ridge.

“We’ve got to figure out what’s wrong and fix it,” Byrne said. “Times like this, they challenge you as a coach and they challenge you as a student-athlete, and that’s the great thing about our sport.”

The 11th-ranked Badgers men finished 17th out in a 36-team field that included 17 of the top 30 teams in the latest USTFCCCA poll.
