Why can’t a Canadian club win the NHL’s wide-open West?

Back when the west was wild, there was only one champion gunslinger. But to be the fastest gun in the west meant fending off perennial challengers.

Let’s just say it was a title that changed hands frequently.

Kind of like how it’s been going in the NHL’s Western Conference in recent years.

For many a decade, the West was ruled over by dynasties, right back to the days when the NHL first formed a West Division in 1967-68 and the St. Louis Blues won the first three titles.
