The first two picks of the 2016 NHL draft, in theory, should be uneventful. The Toronto Maple Leafs have a shot at a franchise-altering center in Auston Matthews. If they don’t outthink themselves, they grab him.
That leaves the Winnipeg Jets sitting in a great spot at No. 2, where Patrik Laine, the best player in the draft according to him, should be waiting to be grabbed.
Then it gets interesting.
