-- The Jets were the opponent for the Bruins home opener and do the same tonight for the Devils at the Prudential Center. The Devils are 19-8-5 in season-openers all-time and 17-9-6 in home-openers.

-- New Jersey was 32-36-14 last season, good for just 78 points and 13th place in the Eastern Conference. They have not qualified for the playoffs in the last three seasons.

-- Former Jet Lee Stempniak is working on the right side of the Devils top line, along with Winnipeg product Travis Zajac and Mike Cammalleri.

-- This is the debut for new Devils head coach John Hynes, who spent the last six years with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the AHL, including five as head coach.
