Jets to take on Panthers in Finland

The Winnipeg Jets have gone on some extended road trips -- but never as far off as the journey they'll take in November.

According to reports coming out of Tampa Bay, the Jets and Florida Panthers will play a pair of regular-season games in Finland early in the 2018-19 NHL season. The series would be a homecoming for Jets young superstar Patrik Laine and winger Joel Armia, and Florida's Alexsander Barkov.

It's the first foray overseas for the Jets, while Florida played a pair of games in Helsinki in 2009 against the Chicago Blackhawks.

It's assumed both the Jets and Panthers would use up a home date for the two-game series, likely to be held in Helsinki, meaning Bell MTS Place would host 40 games next season.
