A pair of power-play goals have led to a fast start for the Winnipeg Jets.
Adam Lowry and Joel Armia scored in the opening period Friday night to give the Jets a 2-0 lead over the Edmonton Oilers in preseason play at the MTS Centre.
Lowry converted on a nice pass from Blake Wheeler for the first goal, and Armia was then sent in alone on a beautiful feed from Mark Scheifele.
Edmonton outshot Winnipeg 11-8 but couldn't beat Jets goalie Michael Hutchinson.
Patrik Laine is playing his first game for the Jets, but the rookie phenom was held off the scoresheet.
