Mark Scheifele scores... $49 million!
The Winnipeg Jets have scratched off a top priority from their summer to-do list, announcing Friday afternoon that they signed the 23-year-old restricted free agent centre to an eight-year deal with an annual average value of $6.125 million.
The 6-3, 205-pounder from Kitchener, Ont., is coming off a career year with the Jets with 29 goals and 32 assists in 71 games, including a 10-game point streak to end the season. He was the NHL's top point producer from Feb. 18 until season’s end, notching 33 points in 26 games.
In 227 games with the Jets, Scheifele has 58 goals and 87 assists.
