Jets rise above Flames after 20

With one period in the books at MTS Centre, the Winnipeg Jets are holding on to a 2-1 lead over the Calgary Flames.

The visitors struck first in the contest, opening scoring 3:48 into the game. That’s when Calgary defenceman Deryk Engelland sniped a top-corner shot on Jets goalie Michael Hutchinson.

But Jets’ center Mark Scheifele evened the score just over five minutes later, knocking in a quick shot from Nic Petan. The power-play marker came after Calgary defenceman Brett Kulak went to the box for hooking Dustin Byfuglien.

With just over 30 seconds left to go in the period, rookie Nik Ehlers flashed some moves for the go-ahead goal.
