PENTICTON, B.C. – Centre Jansen Harkins scored the lone goal of the opening 20 minutes to give the Winnipeg Jets a 1-0 lead over the Calgary Flames at the Young Stars Classic rookie tournament Friday night.

Left-winger Kyle Connor was Winnipeg’s most dangerous offensive player with three excellent scoring chances in the period, including a clear-cut breakaway foiled by Calgary goalie Jon Gillies.

Jamie Phillips made 15 stops in the Winnipeg net while Calgary’s Gillies had seven saves.
