Jets outlast L.A. to win 2-1 in OT but lose Laine to injury

One young winger guided the Winnipeg Jets to victory Tuesday, but the NHL club also suffered the loss of their top scoring machine.

Rookie winger Kyle Connor fired both goals for Winnipeg, including the winner in three-on-three overtime, as the Jets defeated the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 at Bell MTS Place.

Connor took a pass from centre Bryan Little and whipped a wrist shot by Kings goalie Jack Campbell at 1:37 of the extra period.

The Jets rookie now has 27 goals and trails Brock Boeser of the Vancouver Canucks by two goals for the NHL rookie scoring lead.
