An ugly second period reminiscent of the way the Winnipeg Jets performed all too often in middle frames last year cost the club in NHL pre-season play Wednesday night.
The Edmonton Oilers struck for three-straight tallies in a listless period by the hosts and went on to register a 4-1 victory at Bell MTS Place.
The Jets are winless in their first two pre-season contests. The Minnesota Wild defeated the host Jets 3-2 in a shootout Monday night.
Winnipeg left-winger Nikolaj Ehlers opened the scoring on the power play at 5:34 of the first period, finishing off a three-way passing play with blue-liners Tyler Myers and Jacob Trouba.
