Jets fly into the perfect storm

RALEIGH, N.C. — With two sub-par periods and another deficient night on special teams, could the Winnipeg Jets do anything but lose their NHL game Tuesday night to the Carolina Hurricanes?

Of course not.

The Canes clicked twice on the power play and held off the Jets in the third period to record a 2-1 victory before 10,489 at PNC Arena.

That aided Carolina’s push to get to the Eastern Conference playoff line, now at 62 points.

The Jets, meanwhile, stalled at 53 and are an ominous nine points off the Western line as the season continues to slip away a game at a time.
