The Winnipeg Jets have signed assistant coach Jamie Kompon to a two-year extension, the Free Press has learned.

Kompon, 51, has been with the Jets the last two years, joining the club for the start of the 2016-17 NHL season after serving as head coach and GM of the WHL's Portland Winterhawks from 2014-16. Prior to that, the native of Thunder Bay, Ont., spent two seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks as an assistant coach, winning the Stanley Cup in his first campaign with the team in 2013.
