DENVER – The mission now for the Winnipeg Jets is simple: stop the bleeding of a skid that has seen them lose two straight and five of their last six.
Or... just let this thing bleed out until the National Hockey League Draft Lottery after the regular season.
The Jets, still stinging from Friday’s 5-3 home loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, begin a stretch that will see them play eight of their next 10 on the road tonight at the Pepsi Center against the Colorado Avalanche (9 p.m.; Sportsnet/TSN1290).
Winnipeg, now 22-26-3, remains nine points behind Nashville for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference, but is now also tied with five other teams – including Calgary, Toronto, Edmonton, Buffalo and Columbus -- for the lowest point total in the entire league.
