TAMPA BAY – Lightning centre Brayden Point scored just 36 seconds into three-on-three overtime to give Tampa Bay a 4-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night.
The single point was well earned for the Jets, who wrapped up three-game road trip 0-2-1.
Winnipeg (17-8-4) is now 0-for-5 in extra time this season.
Call it partial redemption for the Jets, who weren't sharp in losses to the Detroit Red Wings and Florida Panthers but rebounded with a gritty, determined though unspectacular performance against the Lightning (21-6-2), the NHL's preeminent team.
