Jets down Stars 4-2

A masterpiece it wasn't but NHL victories of all shapes and sizes are critical this time of year.

Propelled by a two-goal performance from Patrik Laine, the Winnipeg Jets downed the Dallas Stars 4-2 Sunday night — their second of six straight games at Bell MTS Place.

Laine scored his 42nd and 43rd goals to tie Washington sniper Alex Ovechkin for the league lead. Both tallies came at the expense of Dallas back-up Kari Lehtonen, who was forced into the game midway through the first period when starter Ben Bishop was hurt stretching to make a brilliant save off centre Bryan Little.
