A concussion suffered by veteran goaltender Steve Mason has opened the door for Winnipeg Jets goaltending prospect Eric Comrie.
The Jets recalled the 22-year-old Edmonton product from the AHL's Manitoba Moose Monday morning and placed Mason on injured reserve. Mason was injured during the first period of Winnipeg's Saturday night game, a 4-0 loss in San Jose when Sharks forward Jannick Hansen fired a shot off his mask.
Mason finished the period, stopping 11 of 13 shots, but did not return for the second period.
"He's got a concussion, we think based on the hit on the shot he took," Jets head coach Paul Maurice said Monday.
