Jets bruised in Big Apple

NEW YORK -- The New York Rangers are leading the Winnipeg Jets 5-2 after the second period here at Madison Square Garden Sunday night.

Mats Zuccarello gave the Rangers a 2-1 lead at 10:02 of the second period, cashing in a pass from linemate Chris Kreider as part of a Rangers 3-on-1 that began when Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien fell at the Rangers blueline.

Winnipeg’s Mark Scheifele tied the game 2-2 just two minutes later, banging home a loose puck during a goal mouth scramble. It was Scheifele’s seventh goal of the season.
