Ill-timed slump dragging on

Everyone wants more from their Winnipeg Jets, especially in light of last season’s leap of progress into the Stanley Cup playoffs.

But at the moment, is it realistic to want blood from a stone?

Hobbled by injuries to significant producers, the Jets were acutely competitive again Thursday night at the MTS Centre against the Nashville Predators.

But competitiveness alone won’t move you up the standings, and a 4-1 Nashville victory — busting open a 2-1 game with two goals in the final two minutes — served to make even more precarious the Jets’ position in terms of the playoff line.
