Hellebuyck stars in Dallas

DALLAS — It hasn’t been easy for three-plus months. It wasn’t easy Thursday night in Texas. And it certainly will be anything but easy for the Winnipeg Jets from here until the finish line of the 2015-16 NHL season.

The Jets pulled in for the midway pit stop to the campaign after serving up one of their best all-round efforts, albeit in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Dallas Stars in front of a sold-out crowd of 18,532 at American Airlines Center.

And that, in a nutshell, might just describe the 41 games that are now in the rear-view mirror for the Jets, who have been not quite good enough and enter the second half looking up at a pile of teams ahead of them in the standings.
