ANAHEIM, CA – The Winnipeg Jets are getting some firepower back in advance of tonight’s game against the Anaheim Ducks.
The club announced it has activated centre Mark Scheifele from the injured reserve list and re-assigned winger Matt Halischuk to the Manitoba Moose.
Scheifele, who had been one of the most-dangerous Jets before Christmas, has been out since a collision with Andrew Ladd during a practice on Boxing Day that saw him suffer a concussion. He missed three games and has 12 goals and 10 assists in 34 contests this season.
The 27-year-old Halischuk had given the Jets some solid work since his recall, but the recent work of Finnish rookie Joel Armia – who scored his first NHL goal in Saturday’s 4-1 over the San Jose Sharks – made it virtually impossible for coach Paul Maurice to send him back to the Moose.
