DALLAS -- Maybe they were angry. Maybe they were sad.
Or maybe, they just wanted to pay tribute to the only captain they’ve ever known.
But whatever was driving the Winnipeg Jets here at American Airlines Center Thursday night -- and it was most likely a mix of all three -- they stormed out of a dressing room that had just been vacated by the trade of captain Andrew Ladd and promptly pumped three goals in the first period past Dallas Stars netminder Antti Niemi.
And then, after squandering that 3-0 lead and finding themselves tied 3-3, a Jets team that has all too often this season rolled over in the third period found another level instead on this historic evening to post a 6-3 victory over the Stars that was dripping with drama.
