Dale Hawerchuk

Winnipeg Jets legend Dale Hawerchuk has died of cancer, just months after finishing up what he hoped would be his last round of chemotherapy.

"After an incredibly brave and difficult battle with cancer, our dad has passed away. My family is so proud of him and the way he fought. #HawerchukStrong," his son, Eric, wrote on social media Tuesday afternoon.

Hawerchuk, 57, is survived by wife Crystal, sons Eric and Ben, and daughter Alexis.
