Fire up the conspiracy theories and cue the referees-hate-the-Winnipeg-Jets mob — Jets faithful now have all the fuel they need to fill sports-talk radio, chat rooms and comment sections for days, weeks, months.
The Jets fell 4-1 to the San Jose Sharks Tuesday night at the MTS Centre, but this wasn’t a garden-variety loss in early January. It was the way it happened — with a potential game-tying goal with less than six minutes remaining by Blake Wheeler wiped out by a controversial penalty — that left everyone in Jets colours fuming afterward.
The result drops the Jets to 19-21-3 and means they have dumped the first two games of a nine-in-10 homestand that was to be critical to launching them back into the playoff discussion.
