Kayla Williams entered the starting lineup for Wichita State’s women’s basketball team in this season’s third game and played a season-high 29 minutes in the fourth.
By the eighth game, one after she started and played three minutes against Arkansas State, Williams was no longer a starter. She played five minutes in the most recent game against Missouri.
The plight of Williams, a freshman, is common among Shockers. Inconsistent playing time has struck nearly every player heading into Friday’s game against Abilene Christian as part of the two-day Shocker Winter Classic.
“I really like playing eight to 10 (players),” WSU coach Jody Adams-Birch said.
