Codi Heuer pitched six solid innings in his second start of the season, enabling Wichita State to defeat Indiana State 5-2 Friday in Terre Haute, Ind.
Heuer, whose other start came March 1 against Nebraska-Omaha, limited the Sycamores to four hits and one run in six innings. Maize’s Connor Lungwitz went two innings, allowing one hit and striking out three. Ben Hecht pitched the ninth, allowing a home run to Tony Rosselli.
WSU (27-27, 10-10 MVC) struck in the first when Willie Schwanke singled home Greyson Jenista, who had walked.
The final three batters in the Shocker order (Alex Jackson, Travis Young and Jordan Boyer) went 5 for 11.
