Wichita State freshman Connor Lungwitz earned Missouri Valley Conference pitcher of the week honors after his first start.
Lungwitz, from Maize High, struck out 10 in six scoreless innings last week in a 10-2 win over Stephen F. Austin. He allowed two singles and walked one.
He is the first WSU freshman to strike out 10 or more in his first start since 2003, when Steve Uhlmansiek struck out 10 against Hawaii-Hilo.
