When the final buzzer sounded, Wichita State Head Coach Gregg Marshall embraced his freshman point guard Grant Sherfield. After making his way through the hand shake line, Marshall was walking briskly off of the court – then he paused. He turned around and made three directional points toward the more than 10,000 people in the crowd.
It was his way of saying thank you.
Emotions were running high. With the amount of story lines coming into Saturday night, this game against the Sooners was more than just a game. Just a year ago, the Shockers traveled to Oklahoma City to take on OU.
