WICHITA – The American Athletic Conference named Taran Taylor the Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week following his javelin win Saturday at the John Jacobs Invitational.
The Arkansas City, Kansas native launched a conference-leading throw of 69.41m/227-9 to improve to 25th in the nation in the event. Taylor has placed top two in each of the three outdoor meets he's thrown in this season.
He currently ranks second on the Shocker all-time list with his personal-best throw of 74.26m/243-7.5 from 2018 and has earned all-conference honors twice in his career, winning the 2021 American Outdoor Championships and placing third in 2018.
