CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Wichita State softball team won its first game of the season, defeating Central Michigan 6-2 at the Cougar Classic on Friday.
Caitlin Bingham pitched a career-high seven innings, striking out four batters in her first complete game. Neleigh Herring obtained a career-high four RBI in the season opener, hitting her first career home run in the process.
Madison Perrigan lifted the Shockers to an early one-run lead, driving home Laurie Derrico off a triple to right-center in the top of the first inning.
