PROVO, Utah -- Wichita State got a combined 27 kills from middles Maddie Wilson and Elinor Engel to surge past Northern Colorado 25-19, 23-25, 25-14, 22-25, 15-7 in the final match of the BYU Nike Invitational.
The Shockers (3-2) finish the competition with a 2-1 record, sandwiching wins over Incarnate Word and Northern Colorado around a loss to #18 BYU.
After trading set wins to reach the fifth and decisive stanza, Wichita State left little doubt in the final frame. A crushing 7-0 run stretched an already healthy lead to 14-4, giving WSU plenty of cushion.
