Shockers Outlast Golden Hurricane to Win Conference Opener

TULSA, Okla.—The Wichita State men's basketball team fought off a strong second half push to beat Tulsa, 69-65, at the Reynolds Center on Tuesday night.

A strong first half put the Shockers in position to weather a Golden Hurricane storm in the second half.

Wichita State had first-half runs of 6-0, 7-0 and 10-0 to build a 14-point halftime lead.

Tulsa opened the second half on a 14-4 run to cut the Shocker lead, which was at 17 at one point during the first half, to just two points.

After trading small runs back-and-forth throughout the second half, the Shockers only allowed one made field goal in the final three minutes of the game.
