Shockers Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

WICHITA, Kan. – In partnership with the American Cancer Society Coaches vs. Cancer, Wichita State men's basketball players will take the court in pink jerseys, shorts and shoes for their Thursday, Feb. 20 home game against the USF Bulls.

Thanks to increased awareness and improved screening and treatment options, breast cancer deaths have declined by 40 percent since 1991. However, the battle continues. In 2020, doctors will diagnose more than a quarter-million new breast cancer cases in the United States, and the disease will claim the lives of an estimated 42,690 women. In
Kansas alone, 2,390 new cases are expected this calendar year along with 350 breast cancer-related deaths.
