Shockers Fall Short Against SMU

Wichita, Kan. -- Wichita State fell in straight sets to SMU on Sunday afternoon at Charles Koch Arena, 25-21, 25-21, 25-12.

The Mustangs (12-6, 5-1) hit .371 for the day, getting 16 kills from Jamison Wheeler and eight or more from three other sources. Natalie Foster and Brylee Kelly each posted 13 kills for Wichita State (8-8, 3-2), but no other Shocker had more than four.

SMU led 22-16 late in the first set before the Shockers rallied, scoring four in a row to slice the Mustangs lead to 22-20. After an SMU timeout, the Mustangs scored three of the next four points to clinch the set, getting a kill from Marieke van der Mark for the winner.
