Shockers Drop Two Games to Illinois State

WICHITA, Kan. – After beginning Missouri Valley Conference play with a perfect 3-0 record, the Wichita State softball team fell to Illinois State twice on Saturday, by scores of, 5-3 and 8-3.

Katie Malone started game one, throwing all seven innings, but allowing five earned runs on 10 hits.

Both teams went scoreless for the first three innings until a solo home run in the top of the fourth by Allison Spence broke the tie and gave Illinois State a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Shockers tied it back up after Kelli Spring reached on a bunt single and later came around to score on a single from Madison Perrigan.
